style inspiration: kim kardashian

December 30, 2013

kim

Oh, Kimmy... This woman right here is the kind of person you either love or hate. There's no in between. She has been one of the most talked about celebrities of our generation - mostly in a bad way, let it be known -, but continues to mystify and make tons of ink run on the press for her and the Kardashian family. I personally love her. While some of her actions are questionable to say the least and the Kardashian brand is starting to wear out with people, she handles the press and the (immense) negative attention flawlessly. What truly captivates me, though, is her style and her rocking curves. Huh?! Let me explain: we are both the same height (5'2''), we both are curvy women, so it's only natural I'll look up to her for inspiration on what to wear with my body type. Surely she has had some very big misses, but she's also had some fabulous hits. She's very creative and always up to be adventurous with fashion and that's what I'll share with you today! So without further ado, here are some of my favorite Kim Kardashian looks:

coat game

Kim's coat game has been out of this world amazing this Fall. As you all know I'm obsessed with big, chunky coats this season and Kim nails this look perfectly despite her petite frame. These coats are to die for and they look so warm and beautifully chic! Both from Maxmara I believe, definitely on my (dream big) wishlist, love them so much.

grunge chic

One thing I love about Kim is that she can step out in the most sophisticated little outfit on her day-to-day life just as much as she can rock some serious grunge outfits like it's nobody's business. This is totally me every single day of my life: one day I wake up and feel like I wanna channel Grace Kelly and be chic and glamorous going to college or I just literally feel like throwing on my leather jacket, biker boots and tartan shirt and be done with it. Either way, Kim manages to look fabulous in both situations, and these are some of my favorite casual looks of hers.

princess kim

Can we talk about how absolutely gorgeous Kimmy looks on her red carpet events?! Sure, some days she tries to experiment and goes a little overboard, but when she decides to be chic and embrace her curves instead of hiding them... boy, it's magical. Alas, her red carpet dresses were most definitely my inspiration when the time came to find some pointers for my prom dress. I loved so many of her looks but I absolutely fall in love with the white Lanvin dress she wore in 2011 (second picture). It was glamorous but still embraced all her gorgeous womanly curves! I chose to have mine done in a royal blue shade and my super, insanely, immensely talented grandma made it just perfect.

gym beauty

I love the fact Kim is so active and is always looking for her next workout, just like me. Her gym attire is a lot similar to mine: I want the most comfort possible and don't understand how some people think the gym is a runway and go there with crop tops, a full face of makeup and super tiny shorts. A sports bra, a black tank top, knee-length leggings and my Nike's are my go-to look at the gym, and my girl Kim understands me just perfectly.

rocking curves

Last but not least... the famous Kim Kardashian curves. I absolutely adore them. I used to be quite self conscious about my curves, I have very large thighs, a big butt but am so tiny on the breast and tummy area. While some people feel it's best to hide their curves, Kim has shown me it's absolutely okay to embrace them for the beauty they are! Sometimes we look up to the wrong images and role models who tells us we need to starve ourselves to meet society's ideals of beauty. We all have to feel comfortable with our bodies, so we must look up to those who have similar body types than us and feel confident about our curves or lack thereof. There's no cookie cutter attitude for me, I know my body and I've grown to absolutely love my curves, so much that my prom dress highlighted them and I got so much praise for this! Bottom line is, love yourself. Doesn't she look absolutely gorgeous?! Curvy ladies, you are doing it right! Shake that delicious booty of yours! It's large, it's fabulous, and we love it!

---

I decided to start a new little category here dedicated to my style inspirations. They will be varied and different from one another but I pick up little bits and bobs from every one of them and then make up my own style. Hope you enjoy! Have a great last days of 2013, my loves. Hope your 2014 is awesome!

Hi, angels! How was your Christmas? I hope Santa was kind to you but, most of all, I hope that you spent some quality time with your family and that you counted your blessings. Most important thing in the world! Today I want to talk to you about perfumes. I'm very sensitive to smells so buying perfumes for me is hard. I don't like fresh scents, I'm much more drawn to sweet, woody and strong scents that linger on the skin. I've been using 212 VIP for almost 2 years now, been through maybe 3 bottles of it but there were quite a few perfumes I'd been dying to try. I love the fact perfumes can transport you back to certain memories... so here's a little trip down my memory lane: my English teacher's signature scent was Allure Sensuelle and she'd been wearing it for our trip to London in March. Every time she walked past me I'd always be floating behind just to catch a whiff of her perfume. Fast forward to now and my parents have gifted me this bottle for Christmas! Every time I smell myself it's like I'm back in Covent Garden, trailing behind her, happy in London... I love it so much, just a small spritz can get you through a whole day. Just for reference, I put it on yesterday morning and now it's 11 a.m. and it STILL lingers. I surely recommend it if you love sweet but strong smells with amazing staying power. Next on my list is Flowerbomb and the iconic Nº5. Oh, Chanel...

What is your signature scent? Have an amazing end to your holiday season, beauts. More posts coming soon!

coat matters

December 18, 2013

Yes... this wishlist's lack of cohesion is exactly what goes on inside my brain. A jumbled mess of things that have no middle ground between them. But anyhow... To put it simply, I'm on the hunt for a coat. It may seem easy at first, but it's not. It's hella' hard. I haven't shopped much lately, haven't bought anything for almost 2 months (huh!?), but I've been tirelessly browsing for a coat. My requisites are simple: has to be form fitting (cinched at the waist à la Olivia Pope, if possible), warm, warm... and did I mention warm? I'm especially in love with Zara's everything right now. I've rekindled our off and on romance yet again after half a year broken up, so I'm anxiously waiting for the sales. But like my mama says, I'm the hardest person to shop for because I change my mind about fashion 4 times a day. Take this wishlist, for instance. I go from cotton candy to black to a parka to tartan in 0.5 seconds. Gosh, even this post is a jumbled mess... seems like I better catch some zzz's now, this sleeping pill is really kicking in, holy macaroni. Ta-ta!

The Little Red Riding Hood reference... I mean, I just had to. Come on now, can you imagine me as modern day little girl running around the woods in a red cape, leather pants and heels? You're welcome for that visual. Hi, you guys and happy Sunday! I'm back for now. I'll spare you the wah wah bits and head straight on to the fact it's almost Christmas holidays! Woohoo! I need these holidays like Miley Cyrus needs her twerking, I'm so grateful to get to sleep in since it's been 84 years since my last full night of sleep, even with the aid of sleeping pills. Yes, college, this stink eye is for you and you alone. In celebration of the impending Christmas season, here's a semi festive look for you. Woop!

It's 1 p.m. and I'm currently lazying it up in my bed after a night out with friends. You know those nights where you just mean to grab a quick cup of coffee and end up chatting until 2 a.m. about nothing at all? Yep, those are my favorite nights, too. So grateful for my friends! Have a wonderful week, my loves! Love you all and hope y'all have an awesome festive season.

nineteen

December 03, 2013

Holy guacamole, I can't believe I turn 19 today! Seems like just yesterday I was obsessed with Sesame Street and still a little baby girl running around the house cuddling my nappy. Now 19 years to that cold, nerve-wrecking day in December of 1994, I'm a girl young woman in my second year of college and on my way to tackling America! Woohoo! Every year I'm one year closer to achieving all my hopes and dreams, and I'm deeply grateful to celebrate each birthday surrounded by people who love me unconditionally and who I love beyond measure. Even though I may feel unworthy at times, I'm so blessed to feel all this love around me. Happy 19th birthday to me! xx

Hi, guys. Sorry for the absence, life has been a big ball of no lately. I need a few quiet moments to regroup, revisit and revise, some time of introspection to figure out what's causing my anxiety and unusual sadness. I feel like life is testing me and I must respond adequately, and for that I need some moments of peace. It's Thanksgiving week and I hope all of you have a blessed holiday, that you say plenty of thanks and feel genuinely blessed for all that life has to offer. Despite all my trials and tribulations this yearand what a challenging year it's been, I know I'll still find it in my heart to be thankful for all of you lovely people, for my family, for my ability to keep maturing as a person and dealing with whatever curve ball life throws my way. Be back soon. xx

Up to the Mountain by Crystal Bowersox on Grooveshark
This week was crazy bad. I don't know what it was, but I think once something goes wrong, several things start snowballing like mad and next thing you know, you're knee deep into a huge ass pile of crappy stuff. Not acceptable. College is honestly one of the things that makes my blood pressure skyrocket; it's the most stressful thing ever... one day you have a million things to do, and the next day there's a million things plus one. It makes me wanna pull my hair out. That coupled with medical stress and an upcoming driving exam... Lord have mercy. BUT! And there is a but... I believe things can only get better. Once you hit rock bottom and fall into a spiral of anxiety, there's only so much more than can go wrong until it starts getting better. Now, as I sit here in my leopard onesie and catch up on this week's Grey's Anatomy episode with toast and my trusty chocolate milk, preparing for yet another highly stressful week, I know in my heart things will get better. I'm ready to start a new training plan at the gym, ready to be immersed into my glimpses of man candy - teehee! -, ready to let my creative juices flow... Have an awesome week, babes! Things will always, always, always get better, we just have to wait it out.

{ Some days I look down, I'm so afraid I will fall
And although the sun shines, I see nothing at all...
Then I hear your sweet voice, come and then go
Telling me softly,
You love me so...
The peaceful valley, just over the mountain
That so few come to know...
I may never get there, ever in this lifetime
But sooner or later, it's there I will go }

Hi guys! So sorry for the delay in posting, but this week has been hell come to life. But I shall not bore you with sadness, not when there's more pressing issues at hand... namely the crop top. Ahhh. Okay. So, I know this trend isn't everyone's cup of tea and, to be honest with you, I'm still debating whether it's my cup of tea at all so bear with me. I think you have to have a super toned midriff to pull this off - which I still don't, but I'm working on it! - because, truthfully, every time a top of mine rides a little high, I'm always instantaneously pulling it down. It honestly bugs me so much. Why did I buy a crop top, then?! I wasn't planning on it, really. I'm not a big fan of showing a cray amount of skin, but I saw this floral top this morning and I fell in love with the print and the price (12€ !!!! I mean...) and that's kinda what sold it for me. I instantly knew I had to pair it with my high waisted jeans (which, by the way, are my only pair and I only bought them because they had a high waist, can't stand low waist jeans!). I think fashion isn't about trends, it's about loving a piece and not caring whether it's in or out of fashion, whether other people love it or not... you are the only one who has to love it and own it your way regardless of any other thing. Taking risks only makes it more fun. But I'd love to hear your opinion on this crop top trend going around... Do you love it? Hate it?

Have a gorgeous weekend, loves! Just came home from dinner with my friends and it was just what the doctor ordered... except for all the secondhand smoke clinging to my hair. Sigh. Have a good night!

yet again...

November 09, 2013

Lord have mercy because I'm truly sucked into this whole grunge vibe going around. I know, I know; every year the dominant fall colors are always the plums, the deep reds, the effortless black... Deep sigh. I know I say this 15 times everyday but I'm so in love with Fall/Winter fashion, it's my absolute favorite and I can't help but keep on making all these collections of my favorite pieces in tartan and plaid patterns, in juicy plum shades, in dark green, the berry tones... Stick a fork in me, I'm done. Can I magically wake up with all of these pieces in my closet? Have a good Saturday! And psssttt... there's a new outfit post coming very soon...

favorite fall pieces

November 04, 2013

1

Hi my loves and happy Monday to you! Hope your weekend was absolutely fabulous. Today I'm reflecting on my favorite fall pieces, from shirts to boots to jackets and everything in between. Hope you enjoy!

2

Bought this shirt and this necklace last weekend, both from Stradivarius. This shirt is so soft and warm, such a flannel feel to it. It's so comfortable and so easy to wear with anything! There were so many colors to choose from but I left with the red one, even though that green one is still on my mind, especially paired with a purple lip... Hm... As for the necklace, I love this chain look. It's kinda heavy but not unbearably so, and you can wear it with so many things. I love pairing it with a simple t-shirt or top so that it's instantly spiced up.

These are all my favorite fall pieces combined. I absolutely love red and brown during the fall because these colors are so warm and inviting. Most of these pieces are from last year except for the shirt. These are my essentials:
♥ A blazer - my parents bought me that Zara blazer for my birthday and you can really tell the difference between an expensive blazer and a cheap one. I don't usually care about that, but this one fits so much better and the material is great compared to my other blazers,
♥ A cape - my grandma made me that red cape and it's honestly so whimsical and surprisingly warm, it always makes me feel like Little Red Riding Hood,
♥ A leather jacket - that one is from Zara and doesn't need any kind of introduction because, really, who doesn't own a leather jacket these days?!
♥ A military jacket - mine is from Pull&Bear and it's perfect for any occasion. Leather sleeves and military green are a combo I fell in love with right away, plus the jacket is so versatile and fits perfectly.

5

Even though the boots I wear the most are my biker ones, these are my favorite pair ever. I scooped them up on sale at Zara (30€! I mean... whoa, right?) and I think they are so gorgeous and so unusual. I love their stone color and all the spikes and accessories. Zara always kills it with their shoes, am I right or am I right?

9

Okay, the Lita trend was super controversial back in the day. Some people were in love with it, others loathed it. I personally was neutral. I'm always neutral when it comes to trends; I'm not a follower, if I like something I'll buy it, regardless of it being dated or not a trend in that moment in time. That's kind of what happened with these shoes: I saw them, I liked them, I bought them. Simple as that. It's so much easier when we don't get carried away with trends... we should always stay true to ourselves and never fall into the trap high street brands try to force upon us.

What are your favorite fall pieces? Have an awesome week, my loves.

It's November! And exactly one month from today, I will be a very mature 19 year old! Squeeeeeal! Hehe. I have a fab feeling about this month. Don't ask me why, it's just this feeling of mine... hope I'm not jinxing anything, but glass half full, right?! October, you were kind and gorgeous as always. Here are some snaps from the month that just ended. You and your orange beauty and crisp smells will be missed!

P.S. - All went well at the hospital. Phew! Also, I was told I'm an absolute pleasure and a total comedian under the effect of anesthesia. No wonder, huh? Glad to have provided some free entertainment for my doctors. Also happy I don't remember anything other than waking up to a spinning room. Praise Jesus! Have a gorgeous November, you guys! You're the kinda sparkly goodies that dreams are made of.

October 31, 2013

So... let's get a little personal, shall we? Last night was seriously tough. Now, I don't know if this has anything to do with the fact it's Halloween — Happy Halloween, by the way! Spooky! — but I honestly can't remember ever feeling that sick. I'm talking serious zombie territory: eyes barely open and absolutely hollow, pastier-than-usual skin, lack of any energy to even stand up or move around. It was truly like a never ending trip to a House of Horrors. But at the same time, it's like you feel so much more appreciative of everything once you turn the corner and you feel normal again. It's almost as if these struggles are your wake up call to realize there are so many wonderful things we take for granted everyday, like the ability to get out of bed and go on with our lives, to feel painless and energized, to feel the love around us as people flock to make sure we're okay... it's all in the way you choose to see things. Your perspective in life. Sending tons of positive energies for you today! I'll be dressed up in a hospital gown today for my exam. This was seriously meant to be... *giggles*! Happy Halloween, my loves!

things to be thankful for...

The invention of a magical thing called a sports bra. It's like a unicorn sprinkled with glitter. I mean, hello!? I don't know how people such as myself worked out in regular bras before. Your boobies are a disoriented mess when you're abusing the treadmill, for one. Jumping up and down, left and right... holy moly, they were probably as nauseated as I was when I rode a roller coaster for the first (and last) time. It's just exhausting, so much boob action is not okay. Thank you sweet baby Jesus for sports bras! My boobies send a thank you card from inside their new comfy, secure, padded home. You're absolutely welcome for that visual.

Having a crush on someone. You turn into a pathetic, fumbling 12 year old again... but isn't that so much fun?! I know! Group squeal! It's honestly the best feeling next to love, especially when it's been 84 years since you've had a crush on someone. Ha! Just kidding. Kind of.

Hats that not only conceal bad hair days, but also bad face days. I know you were wondering about my strategic positioning of the hat (or maybe you weren't and now I've drawn your attention to it. Now this is double awkward!). It's part of my master plan to take over the world in total anonymity. The girl who hid her face with a hat. You've been warned.

The fact that Kate Middleton exists and is gorgeous and perfect and classy and just everything. Sometimes you just gotta be thankful for people who are awesome and sneeze glitter and rainbows. I know.

Have a wonderful weekend, my loves, and make the most out of this last week of October! Can you believe 2013 is almost over?! What!? Yikes!

winter cravings

October 24, 2013

Do my cravings change everyday? Yes. Do I love black one day and yellow the next? Yes. Am I one big ball of confusion and lack of decisiveness? Err... yeah. But I do know that this Autumn/Winter, the things things I really, really need are a cardigan, a coat, a pair (or fifteen) of boots and hats. I'm sure tomorrow I'll yell about my absolute need to buy a flannel shirt - it's already starting, help! -, but we must live in the moment, am I right or am I right? Above are some of my picks that I need to narrow down, because that sound of agony you're hearing over your shoulder? That's my bank account weeping for mercy. Shush, you!

{ Told you I'm a huge crybaby! I was sobbing quietly in my teacher's arms with her hushing me and almost kicking me back to my seat. Yes, ma'am, I am ridonkulous }

When I'm old and gray, I'm sure one of my biggest regrets in life will be the fact I didn't ask for a qualified photographer to take my prom pictures. It's like looking back on your wedding day and finding out your photographer was drunk out of their mind and only took blurry pictures of you and your spouse and your dress and everything you loved. You then cry and yell and pull out your hair but that ain't gonna give you your photos back. Wow, that was kinda dramatic. Anyway... yeah. My prom pictures absolutely suck. In contrast to this fact, though, my prom night was amazing. It happened on June 2nd, 2012 and it was raining heavily. My grandma - who is crazy talented, yo! - made my dress and I'll always look back on it as my favorite dress in my favorite color in my favorite style. Favorite, ya feel me? It was such a beautiful farewell to my high school years. I never experienced the dreaded years people talk about because I really loved high school (it was 2,000 times better than my college experience so far, would you look at that?). Sure, there were sour times as well as sweet, but I met some of my greatest friends there and I truly had so many laughs, memories and experiences to last me a lifetime. I'm a huge crybaby so I sobbed during the mass for us seniors - I went to a catholic school -, sobbing  for so many moments in time I was leaving behind and a chapter in my life that I was closing. But then I laughed, hugged and danced with my favorite people... and all was right in the world again. How was your prom night, dress, experience? Did you love high school as much as me?
